March in Good Time with the Brassmen!
The Westchester Brassmen Drum and Bugle Corps, sponsored by the American Legion Post 559 in Harrison, are marching into their 2013 season. Their 29th year begins with the White Plains St. Patrick Day Parade starting at 12 noon on march 9th. Over to Sleepy Hollow's St. Patrick’s Day Parade March 10th at 1:30 pm and continues March 17th at 1:30 p.m. in Mamaroneck's St Patrick's Day Parade. The program includes “California Dreamin”, “The Magnificent Seven”, “Espana”, “Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You” and "Battle Cry"
Director Joseph Mazzullo of Harrison says, “We are committed to marching musical excellence, providing a quality and educational experience from the novice to professional musician.”
Established as a parade corps in 1984, they have won over 400 first-place trophies and have performed in half-time shows for the NY Jets and at Yankee Stadium.
Members range in age from 14 to 74; youth scholarships are open to high school and college students. The Brassmen are recruiting new members who are invited to attend rehearsals, held Friday nights from 8-10 p.m. at the American Legion Post 599 at 210 Halstead Avenue. Openings are also available in the color guard flag twirling team.
